HARMAN Professional Solutions Provides Discrete Audio Systems for Live Sound, Cinema Exhibitions and Conferencing at Multipurpose Hall of Leonidion

LEONIDION, Greece — The goal, considered ambitious by many, was to deploy a multi-faceted audio system with enough versatility for the wide variety of events held in the new 143-seat Multipurpose Hall of Leonidion in Greece’s Municipality of South Kynouria, Prefecture of Peloponnese. Refusing to back away from a tough challenge, the systems integrator equipped the space with live sound reinforcement, 7.1 cinema playback and conferencing systems courtesy of HARMAN Professional Solutions. Each system features audio equipment from multiple HARMAN Professional brands, including HARMAN’s AKG microphones, HARMAN’s Crown amplifiers, HARMAN’s dbx processing, HARMAN’s JBL loudspeakers and HARMAN’s Soundcraft mixing consoles.

The 150-square-meter Multipurpose Hall is an important part of the new Cultural Center of Leonidion.  Built for speeches, conferences, small theatrical plays, video and movie viewing, musical events and exhibitions, the hall was conceived as a way to pay tribute to the significance of eastern Peloponnese’s agricultural history and marine routes. Located between the beautiful coasts of the Aegean Sea and the spectacular slopes of Parnonas Mountain, Leonidion is one of the most historic towns in Greece and has been known for decades as an administrative and cultural center with vibrant extended touristic, agricultural and marine activity. The Multipurpose Hall of Leonidion is located inside a refurbished, 160-year-old industrial building that previously housed a small power plant, plus a flour and olive mill.

“The Municipality of South Kynouria needed to deliver clear audio for discrete functions at the Multipurpose Hall, from conferencing to cinema exhibition to live sound reinforcement,” said Elpi Bofiliaki of Bon Studio S.A. “The audio system also needed to be just that—a system—so that management and operation of the audio components would not be a difficult or time-consuming task. The range of products that HARMAN Professional Solutions provides, and the interoperability of those products with each other, made HARMAN the perfect choice for the Multipurpose Hall of Leonidion,”

The live PA system at the shoebox-shaped Multipurpose Hall is built around a Soundcraft Si Expression 2 digital mixing console. The console is connected to an analog stage box with 24 inputs and eight outputs. A dbx loudspeaker control system sends the processed stereo signal to Crown XTi amplifiers, which feed two JBL STX815M loudspeakers, an STX828S subwoofer and two AC18/95 under-balcony loudspeakers. A pair of JBL PRX712M powered loudspeakers are used as stage monitors. An AKG WMS 40 Mini 2 and AKG D7 and CGN 99C/L microphones are also provided. The system connection and programming allows the JBL loudspeakers and Crown amplifiers to be used as part of the venue’s 7.1 surround sound system.

The surround sound system uses one JBL STX815M loudspeaker per side for the main left/right system, with an STX828S subwoofer providing low-frequency support. The system also features an STX812M center loudspeaker and eight JBL 8320 loudspeakers to round out the surround sound configuration. Three Crown DSi 1000 amplifiers power the 7.1 surround sound system.

The conference system at the Multipurpose Hall is based on AKG CS5 microphone systems featuring four delegate units (CS5-DU) with headphones (K15), two interpreter units (CS5-IU) with headphones (K15), 20 infrared receivers (CS5-IRR7) with headphones (K15), an infrared radiator (CS5-IRT1) and a charger carrying case (CS5-CU). Appropriate gooseneck microphones (GN-30CS) and capsules (CK31 IU) are also provided for the delegate and interpreter units.
