Shanghai North Bund Opera Week

The Challenge:

The setting on the banks of Huangpu River in Shanghai is a scene full of splendor with the beautiful stage design, world class skyline, and top performers. Delivering a memorable acoustic experience in an outdoor setting not typical for opera performances requires a very special audio system design.

The Solution:

307 JBL Professional speakers were deployed for the event, all powered by Crown I-TECH HD amplifiers. The main sound reinforcement system consisted of 13 groups of JBL VTX V20 line array speakers at the front and ultra-low frequency VTX S25h speakers in the center. 240 JBL EON615 were installed in a distributed manner above the above the stage to deliver an exquisite acoustic experience to the audience. JBL VTX F15 speakers were used as a feedback system on stage, enabling artists to hear clearly hear their own performances, with a Soundcraft Vi6 used as the feedback console. The Soundcraft Vi 5000 made its China debut as the sound reinforcement digital console. AKG DMS800 microphones were also used during the week-long event.

Impact:

Reviews of the event by Chinese artists and industry representatives offered high praise for the audio systems in addition to the location and talent of the performers.
